(Plural) Paratuberculoses (n). Paratuberculosis, also known as Johne's disease, is a chronic infectious disease that primarily affects ruminant animals, such as cattle, sheep, and goats. It is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP). Paratuberculosis primarily affects the small intestine of infected animals and can lead to various symptoms, including chronic diarrhea, weight loss, reduced milk production, and, in severe cases, death.
